PHILOSOPHY

Sarah believes that children and families deserve the best treatment and education available, which is what drew her to Gateway. Witnessing the rise in anxiety, withdrawal, and disconnection among students and parents throughout her thirty years in this field, Sarah believes that access to the highest quality treatment and education is more important than ever and is dedicated to increasing access and awareness for families. She recognizes that making the decision to send a child to treatment outside of the home is one of the most difficult decisions a parent can make and is committed to programming that supports parents as they navigate this journey toward healing as a family. She believes that relationships and connection are at the heart of healing, and Gateway Academy's warm, individualized and evidence-based approach is the best way to support students and families in reaching their full potential.

PROFESSIONAL

Sarah's career began by providing in-home support services for underserved families in rural communities. Her passion for outdoor behavioral health led her to spend two decades in a therapeutic wilderness program, where she served as the Admissions Director and later as the Director of Business Development. Sarah founded a home-based transitional program and played a key role in developing an adventure-based therapeutic boarding school. Collaborating with Indian Health Services, she increased access to treatment for Native American adolescents. When she was introduced to the field of parent coaching, she jumped at the opportunity to gain her credential to coach and support parents throughout their child’s treatment experience, which she has done for the past fifteen years. Sarah also worked as an instructor at Parent Coach Trainers Academy, training others to be parent coaches. She is thrilled to return to a business development role.

PERSONAL
Raised on the Oregon Coast, Sarah frequently returns to the beach for family adventures. Her greatest joy lies in being a mother to two sons, supporting them in pursuing their passions. Camping and traveling with friends and family are among her favorite activities, always ready for adventure. In quieter moments, Sarah enjoys immersing herself in a good book or working in her yard.

CREATING STUDENT SUCCESS

Sarah's role in business development enables her to educate others about Gateway's unique offerings. She is committed to ensuring that professionals referring to Gateway understand the types of students who thrive here. With a broad perspective gained from various roles in her career, Sarah is committed to propelling Gateway forward to meet the evolving needs of students and families. Her goal is to bring together the right students to form a positive culture and place for healing, growth, and development.
