Gateway Academy Locations
Main Campus
Gateway provides a safe, home-like environment, where our teens feel a sense of security, value, and belonging. It is only within such an environment that a youth can feel secure enough to resolve problems and develop the internal resources necessary to heal. The home on the main campus is divided into two living spaces, accommodating 16 teens each, providing an even smaller sub-group, or family within the population of 32-35 youth. Gateway is conveniently located in an active suburb of Salt Lake City, where the youth have regular access to cultural, recreational, service and extra-curricular activities in the surrounding community. Exposure to these opportunities, is an integral part of each youth's treatment experience, and excellent practice for their eventual transition back to their own homes.
Gateway House
The Gateway House is located in a home approximately a mile from the main campus. Upon recommendation from their therapist, youth may transition from the main campus, to the step down clinical services and support at the Gateway House. Youth at the Gateway House have unsupervised, unstructured hours each day to function more independently and to challenge themselves with exposure to many of the circumstances or stressors in the outside community that may have contributed to their need for treatment. Youth have the chance to try out fledgling skills in an atmosphere of greater flexibility and freedom. It’s a period of applying the treatment gains they’ve made to new contexts—with the full safety net and support of Gateway behind them. Exposure to these opportunities, is an integral part of each youth's treatment experience, and excellent practice for their eventual transition back to their own homes or next step.
