PHILOSOPHY
Matt is passionate about fostering curiosity and hands-on learning through science and invention. He believes the classroom should be an interactive space where students are empowered to explore, ask questions, and develop real-world skills. By teaching through practical projects—like gardening, building, and experimenting—Matt helps students connect scientific concepts to everyday life. He is deeply committed to meeting each student’s unique needs, supporting their academic growth, and helping them build confidence as independent thinkers.

Matt brings a breadth of experience teaching various science subjects. He is known for integrating innovative, cross-disciplinary projects that combine biology, engineering, and technology. Matt enjoys guiding students through designing food-growing systems, experimenting with materials, and mastering tools such as 3D printers. His work emphasizes problem-solving and helps students become motivated, self-directed learners.
PERSONAL
Outside the classroom, Matt is a dedicated woodworker and gardener who enjoys creating functional projects and nurturing sustainable food systems. Family is central to his life—his granddaughter, two adopted sons, and one of their wives all share his home. He recently completed a home addition to better support and create space for them. In his free time, Matt enjoys being outdoors, exploring nature, and brainstorming new creative ventures.
