PHILOSOPHY

Corey’s philosophy is rooted in the belief that every adolescent possesses unique strengths, potential, and purpose. By creating environments where students feel safe, supported, challenged, and understood, they can develop the confidence and skills needed to navigate life's obstacles and build meaningful futures. Corey views treatment as a partnership that brings together students, families, and professionals in a shared commitment to growth and success.

PROFESSIONAL

With more than 20 years of experience in the behavioral health field, Corey Hickman has dedicated his career to supporting adolescents and their families through meaningful growth and change. Beginning as direct care staff and later advancing into management and executive leadership roles, Corey developed a deep understanding of the critical role that strong program culture plays in creating successful outcomes for students and families.

Throughout his career, Corey has served in a variety of capacities, including recreation therapist, admissions and outreach, program leadership, and executive management. These experiences have allowed him to build lasting relationships across the industry while maintaining a student-centered approach to care.

PERSONAL

As the proud father of four children, including a daughter living with a life-altering illness, he has gained a deep appreciation for the challenges families face and the importance of compassionate support and connection. Outside of his professional work, Corey enjoys spending time with family and friends and embraces every opportunity for adventure. His favorite days are spent snowboarding fresh powder, wakeboarding and wakesurfing on the lake, relaxing at the beach, or exploring new destinations. A lifelong learner and traveler, Corey loves experiencing different cultures and perspectives—and still has Australia on his list as the final continent to visit.

CREATING STUDENT SUCCESS

Corey is committed to fostering a culture where students are empowered to discover a positive sense of identity as they heal from past wounds, learn how to build meaningful connections, and develop their innate strengths. He believes that growth often emerges through challenge, and even crisis can be an opportunity to create positive change. Everyone deserves to feel accepted and seen. Treatment should be viewed as a family endeavor, as healing occurs within the context of our relationships.Corey often states that students don’t care how much we know until they know how much we care.
